Video Project Documentation

This project is interactive with an overall theme of suspense, horror, and mystery. The interactive video follows a murder case that the user will solve by finding the true murderer after hearing the story from the ghost of the victim and videos from the integoration of three possible suspects. The ghost starts the video by giving us the user some clues about the weapon, this is later followed by additional clues found in the videos to trick the user. After the user hears from all the suspects, the ghost reveals the suspect (Logaine) as the true murder and the murder weapon that was hiding in the background. This is followed by a deeper analysis of the rest of the clues and how they are all false and misleading. The interactive part of the project is the part where the user gets to choose the suspect that he/she thinks is guilty. The design of this user-centered experience, was mainly aiming to include the user in the journey of solving this murder case.

The brain-storming process was inspired by a series of videos done by Buzzfeed that revlove around the same concept and murder theme. After looking at different ideas and putting into consideration the limitations that the current corona that we were facing we decided on implementing this suggestion. In the beginning we were thinking of doing a dinner zoom call, however this later escalated to a murder case. Moreover, at this stage we were still unsure how we could implement the interactivity part of the project. Yet we decided that what less is more, and implementing the choosing part was enough. In terms of task distribution, we all had an equal share in the brain-storming and acting process. Although Dania and Haneen were mainly responsible for the after effects and website, Gurraung took the biggest acting role, and I focused on the part that needed photoshopping. In the end we all shared equally and helped each other to finish all the tasks, while one focused on a certain aspect of the project.

Overall I felt that my personal expectations were met, especially since our expectations were a bit lowered, as all contributors to this work were under lockdown during the making of this video. Personally I struggled with making my screen size the same as everyone else, and unfortunately couldn’t fix it even by trying different devices (such as my phone and a different laptop). However as an entire group I think our main obstacle was finding the right transition between the ghost's video, the suspects’, and the reveal part in the end. In terms of further improvements, I felt that all the sub videos lacked a unified layout that I would like to improve as soon as we hopefully return to the campus and have full access to the Equipment Center.
